OCS Signs Agreements With 26 Licensed Producers

OCS Signs Agreements With 26 Licensed Producers

August 29, 2018 By

Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) announced supply agreements with 26 licensed producers last week, ranging from big players like Canopy Growth Corp. to smaller ones that have just in the last few months become Licensed Producers. There will be further competitions among Licensed Producers, and they should all be aware that analysts expect a shortage of supply, especially in the other provinces, so there will be a chance for all to share their cannabis production.

Furthermore, the OCS announced that in the coming months it would be holding further competitive product calls to expand the selection of available cannabis products, and would also be responsive to the preferences of Ontario consumers on an ongoing basis. Although the details of the types of products have not yet been released, the OCS stated that a wide range of sizes and products had been approved, such as:

  1. dried flower,
  2. cannabis oil,
  3. soft gel capsules,
  4. and cannabis seeds.

Sales of recreational cannabis on October 17 will initially be available only through the Ontario Cannabis Store’s online retail system, until the province establishes a cannabis distribution channel to supply private stores. The government will launch a consultation process with the aim of introducing a private retail channel by April 1, 2019. Although later than anticipated, several marijuana stocks saw a high spike amidst the great excitement. The good news is all coming in full force. Supply agreements with cannabis accessory suppliers are also in the works, so there are more announcements coming up soon for vape manufacturers.
